Gravity Play is Jenny Waia'u Dancel's private practice, home studio specializing in Structural Aerial Movement & Fitness. Jenny started Gravity Play with the intention of creating and fostering a place of wellness and expression. Along with a passion for aerial movement & fitness, Jenny's education and heart for Social Work and Human Development has driven her to seek out creative means to serving individuals and communities of all levels of need. Although Gravity Play is Jenny's private practice home studio, it is first and foremost a place for all people. It's a place to explore, to create, to begin, to continue and especially to PLAY. We see "Play" as an intentional act; giving yourself time to be without constraints or agenda; it's allowing yourself to possibly feel foolish and engage in that state of being that is often sped past or devalued in our busy lives. Gravity Play is in way, a playground, one for all where Jenny seeks to bring her therapeutic and eclectic lens to mindful movement.
Structural Aerial Movement & Fitness is a exciting way to train and/or relax. Using aerial silks (the same fabrics aerial performers use!) a hammock is created to support a practice with elements of yoga, pilates, dance, and strength training. The relationship with the silks allows students to experience the benefits of spinal decompression, low-impact training, deep tissue massage of the lymphatic system, and so much more (including FUN). Jenny intentionally uses the term "Structural Aerial Movement" because it truly is a hybrid of structural movements, rather than just one discipline (i.e. yoga, pilates). In her opinion, the term better reflects the body and fullness of the practice.
For those new to Aerial Movement & Fitness: Welcome! I'm excited to begin your aerial practice with you. I look forward to some laughs and triumphs! For those looking to continue and add to their practice: I'm honored by your presence and can't wait to practice with you.
